  2. Transfer the chopped cabbages to a glass bowl and pour the hot distilled water until the cabbage is covered.
  3. Stir the cabbage in the distilled water and leave it closed for 30 minutes
  4. Once water is pigmented to a purplish color, drain the pieces of cabbage and use the cabbage solution in distilled water as a pH indicator at home.

Fill water in a few amounts to test the pH level, add a few drops of the pH indicator at home in the water and wait for the color of the water to change.

Apart from the pH juice indicator, you can also make pH strips using the cabbage pH indicator using cabbage juice.

Follow the following steps to make the pH strip using purple cabbage, and you will need a filter paper or any acid-free art paper,

  2. Once wholly wet, remove the paper from the solution and let it dry in a neutral environment.
  3. Make sure the environment exposed to dry should not be acidic or alkaline.
  4. Once the paper is completely dry, cut it into strips
  5. To check the pH level using the strip, take a swab of cotton, soak it in water, and dab it lightly on the strip

Usually, when the purple cabbage juice is used to check the PH levels if the water is acidic, it turns red or pink, but it turns greenish-yellow if the water is alkaline.
